Finlay was born on 19 February 2009 at 26weeks and was a little fighter right from the start. The
first night he was with us the doctors told us they did not expect him to last the night as his
lungs were so underdeveloped. BUT Finlay proved everyone wrong and improved hugely over the few
days. Me and his Daddy would sit next to his incubator every day and I was able to clean him and
change his nappy. He was so tiny!! Our family came to visit Finlay and where amazed at his tiny
size, but everyone agreed he was the spitting image of his 2 year old brother Harley, who also came
in to see his little brother.
The nurses were amazed at Finlay's progress but that all ended when at 1 week old Finlay contracted
an infection. He tried his best to get over this but as he was so small the infection damaged his
kidneys just too much and he eventually stopped passing urine. Even with all of this happening to
him. Finlay carried on fighting for over another 3 weeks after first getting the infection. We were
told to expect him to suddenly deteriorate, but he never did. He was a determined little thing.
On the 24 March 2009 his Daddy and I along with the doctors had to make the hardest decision of our
lives. To take Finlay off his ventilator. We could no longer watch our little boy fight so hard,
knowing that he could never win. It wasn't fair.
Finlays grandparents and his auntie and uncle all came to the hospital to say goodbye to this most
special little boy. Then we had some time alone with Finlay before finally removing the ventilator.
I held Finlay for 10 minutes whilst he breathed on his own before falling asleep.
He finally looked peaceful and me and his daddy felt relieved that he was no longer uncomfortable.
Even though it broke our hearts to let him go.
Finlay was only with us for 33 days, but in that time he has changed so many people's lives. He will
always be loved xx
nearly 35 weeks that you've been gone now.........can't believe it.

2 little angls
1 little angel gone too soon, got lonley on his own,
so he wished to the stars and wished to the moon,
to send him a play friend.
god looked down and seen kyle,
and knew that he was the one,
he could make little finlay smile,
and keep his mummy strong.
so now god has 2 little angels,
whose families loved them so,
there was nothing no one cudda done,
it was just there time to go.
so of a night as we look up,
and the stars are shining bright,
it's finlay and kyle holding hands,
wishing us good night. xxxx
